- His research interests focus on lung cancer, therapeutic target identification, genetic factors, immunotherapy, and tumor-associated immunosuppressive mechanisms.
- He has published more than 250 publications and review articles
- He serves on the Board of Scientific Advisors for the National Cancer Institute
- He is currently Chair of the Lung Biology Subcommittee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group
- He was previously President of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
